Planned water outage set to affect thousands of Roscommon homes

Uisce Éireann is advising customers in the Elphin and Strokestown areas that they may experience low pressure/water outages on Thursday, January 22nd due to essential works taking place.

The works are part of the planned changeover to a new water main in the Lettreen area as part of the N5 Ballaghaderreen to Scramogue road project. The outage may impact supply to 2,000 properties.

Customers may experience intermittent outages/low pressure from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday while the changeover to the new water main is being carried out.

The areas that may be impacted on Thursday include Strokestown, Elphin, Larrigan, Shankhill Cross, Lettreen, and surrounding areas.

Uisce Éireann’s Gerard Greally said: “We are working closely with the contractor on the N5 Ballaghaderreen to Scramogue road project to reduce the impact of these works on homes and businesses. Our teams will work to restore the water supply as quickly as possible. 

"We understand the impact that outages can have on customers and would like to thank the local community in advance for their patience and co-operation during the works to facilitate the delivery of the road project.”
