Plans for new bus stops and shelters welcomed
The plans for bus stops and shelters have been welcomed locally.
Proposals for several new bus stops and shelters in West Roscommon have been welcomed by a local councillor.
Fianna Fáil councillor Paschal Fitzmaurice explained that he had been liaising with Roscommon County Council to progress these plans in Castlerea west, Ballinlough and Loughglynn.
Cllr Fitzmaurice outlined that, along with the new bus stops, the bus shelters will have display signs containing information about relevant bus routes.
The new shelter in Castlerea west will be in addition to an existing one in the town located near the Garda Station.
“I’m confident that these plans will be progressed and the bus stops and shelters will be in place by the end of the year,” said the councillor.
Cllr Fitzmaurice said that the need for these new bus stops and shelters arose from feedback he received from local people, which he then relayed to the council.
“I think the new bus stops will be very positive as it will make a big difference to people using these routes,” he said.
The works will be funded by some of the €400,000 allocated by the National Transport Authority to Roscommon County Council for the installation of new bus stops right across the county.
