Plans have been lodged with Roscommon County Council to transform a former primary school in Castleplunkett into a home.

The applicants are seeking planning permission to change the derelict primary school into a domestic dwelling house.

The plans involve refurbishing and extending the building to incorporate additional bedrooms and living space at the former Gort na Glasin school in Rathnalulleagh, Castleplunkett, which closed in 2009.

The planned works also include the demolition of an out-building to the rear, the installation of a new treatment system and percolation area, and the upgrade of the existing site entrance.

The planning application is currently at pre-validation stage, and county planners are due to make a decision on the development by August 19th next.
