Popular and well known Roscommon garda retires

A popular and well known local garda is retiring today after giving four decades service to the people of Ireland.

Garda Owen Crehen has given an incredible 40 years of dedicated service to An Garda Síochána, with 27 of those years proudly serving the community of Athleague.

“Owen will be deeply missed by his colleagues in An Garda Síochána and the people of Athleague alike,” Roscommon Gardaí said in a social media post. “A wealth of local knowledge, he was always available to take a call any time of the day and would go above and beyond to help anyone who needed it.

 “Quite simply they just don’t make them like that anymore. Wishing Owen a long, healthy and well-deserved retirement.”
