Serious concerns about the care and welfare of residents were raised by HIQA.

The Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) has cancelled the registration of Fearna Manor nursing home in Castlerea in response to what it says are "serious concerns about the care and welfare of residents".

In line with the provisions of the Health Act 2007, the Health Service Executive (HSE) took charge of the nursing home at 10 a.m. this morning, Thursday, January 9th.

The registration of the private nursing home, owned and operated by Castlerea Nursing Home Limited, was cancelled by HIQA's Chief Inspector of Social Services under Section 51 of the Health Act 2007.

“We will continue to closely monitor the nursing home to ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents,” said a spokesperson for HIQA.
