Retiring stalwart praised by Roscommon community

The community of Clonown has paid tribute to a local stalwart who is retiring.
The South Roscommon community’s Facebook page thanked John Joe Shine for his years of service with Clonown Community Park, and wished him well in his retirement.
“The committee would like to thank him for all his work with our park over the past five years,” it said.
“John Joe is a proud Clonown man, and this showed in the wonderful manner that he maintained all areas of the park. He always had the park looking so well, and we are very grateful for his hard work and dedication. John Joe always went above and beyond the call of duty, and both visitors and locals often remarked to us on how well the park looked.
“He has promised us that he is not going too far, so keep the phone on John Joe.”
