Roscommon army officer (25) to be laid to rest today
Gilbert Muldowney was a former head student at Elphin Community College.
Captain Philip Gilbert Muldowney (25) from Ballinameen who died following a British Army training incident in Northumbria on Sunday, January 25th will be laid to rest today, Saturday.
Mr Muldowney served as a fire support team commander in the 4th Regiment Royal Artillery.
Removal will take place from his family home at 12.30 p.m. to St. Attracta’s Church, Ballinameen, arriving at 12.45 p.m for funeral mass at 1 p.m..
The former head student at Elphin Community College will be laid to rest afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr Muldowney is survived by his parents Meg and David, sisters Rachel and Kate, grandfather Fred, aunties, uncles, cousins, extended family, goddaughter Katie, a large circle of friends, and fellow army colleagues.
