Roscommon County Council agrees to sell land for residential development

Councillors have agreed to dispose of 0.21 hectares (0.52 acres) of land for the purpose of residential development.
Roscommon county councillors agreed at their Christmas meeting to dispose of 0.21 hectares (0.52 acres) of land at Monksland, for €100,000 for the purpose of residential development.
Independent, Cllr Tony Ward proposed the sale, and said he welcomed it, because there was a shortage of housing in the area.
“If you look at the list of applicants for housing in the Monksland area, it’s probably the biggest within the whole county, and some of those people are on the list for a number of years,” said the Independent councillor.
Fine Gael’s Cllr Domnick Connolly seconded the sale.
