Roscommon Town Post Office.

A Roscommon delegation comprising local councillors and Oireachtas members will meet Minister Jack Chambers this evening (Friday) in the Hodson Bay Hotel to raise their concerns about the likely relocation of services from the Roscommon Town Post Office.

The landmark post office is facing the threat of closure following An Post’s recent announcement of a planned change to a contractor run business, and a likely relocation of services.

Local anger over the plans led to a special meeting of Roscommon County Council last week with members agreeing that a delegation should meet Minister Chambers, whose portfolio covers post offices.

The Roscommon delegation will comprise the Council Cathaoirleach, the six Roscommon Municipal District councillors, the Boyle and Athlone Municipal District Chairs and the five Oireachtas members.
