Derek Tully, a member of staff at the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon, has taken on the Movember Challenge to raise awareness of men’s health issues.

A long standing staff member at the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon is taking bold steps this November as he undertakes the Movember Challenge to raise awareness and funds for critical men’s health issues.

With a personal commitment to honour those who have faced challenges related to mental health, testicular cancer, and suicide, Derek Tully aims to engage the local community of Roscommon in this important cause.

The reason Derek is taking part is for all the men who never got to see their 40th birthday. “Whether it’s due to mental health struggles, testicular cancer, or suicide, I want to help raise awareness and support for these significant issues,” Derek said.

His commitment extends beyond simply growing a moustache; he has set a goal to walk 150 kilometres throughout the month of November, in addition to skipping 30 meals as a personal challenge. His target is to raise €2,000 to support initiatives that address men’s health.

Geraldine Grealy, marketing and public relations manager at the Abbey said: “Community support can make a significant difference, and Derek invites everyone to join him in this effort. Thank you to everyone for your support.”
