A Roscommon student has been recognised for his excellent Leaving Certificate results.

Joey Geever, a former pupil at St. Nathy’s College, Ballaghaderreen, was among the high achieving students who received a DCU Scholars Award.

The award recognises students who received more than 600 points in their Leaving Certificate.

Joey is studying for a Bachelor of Science in Science and Mathematics Education at Dublin City University.

Also present at today’s award’s ceremony was Principal of St. Nathy’s College, Ballaghaderreen Fr Martin Henry.

The recipients hailed from 19 counties across Ireland and represent the university’s five faculties: the DCU Business School, the Institute of Education, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Science & Health and the Faculty of Engineering and Computing.

Speaking at the ceremony, DCU President, Professor Dáire Keogh congratulated the awardees.

“I am delighted to congratulate the recipients of our Scholars Awards. I am proud that these exceptional students have chosen to study at our University. They represent the talent of their generation and the future of our country. They will relish the academic challenges and opportunities of University life and we will support them to achieve their dreams.”
