A Roscommon Town native has been appointed as chairman designate of An Post.

A very prominent figure in the industrial relations and business world, Kieran Mulvey was appointed to the position by Communications Minister Eamon Ryan, following an open competition. Mr Mulvey has served as Chief Executive of the Labour Relations Commission and later as Director General of the Workplace Relations Commission.

Minister Ryan said he recognised the long experience and wide achievement Mr Mulvey brings to this key role of chairperson.

“More recently he has given able service as a Non-Executive Director and Senior Independent Director with An Post. The organisation has been undergoing a period of change and challenge. I am confident that Kieran’s mature guidance and stewardship will help An Post continue to respond adequately to the challenges and the opportunities before it,” Minister Ryan said. “He will ensure a strategic focus is maintained to addressing these, and lead An Post’s Board in proactively engaging with senior management, employees, Government, its customers and the wider community."

Welcoming Kieran Mulvey’s appointment, An Post CEO David McRedmond said: “Kieran has been a valued member of our Board since 2019 and I look forward to working with him in his new capacity as chair in progressing our Green Light 2028 business strategy and the ongoing transformation of An Post.”
