Sale of Shannon View attracted considerable interest

The sale of Shannon View, overlooking the River Shannon, marina and Blueway at Ballyleague and Lanesborough, has been confirmed.

The successful sale has been announced of Shannon View, one of the most distinctive and historically significant residential properties to come to the market in the Ballyleague/Lanesborough area in recent years.

“Occupying an exceptional elevated position overlooking the River Shannon, the marina and Blueway at Ballyleague and Lanesborough, Shannon View attracted considerable interest from buyers both locally and nationally, due to its unique combination of heritage, location and future potential,” said auctioneer Seamus Carthy.

“This remarkable nineteenth-century riverside residence, originally built for the engineer of the Shannon Bridge, stands on approximately two acres of mature private grounds and incorporates a collection of traditional cut-stone outbuildings arranged around a sheltered courtyard,” explained the auctioneer.

Adding to its historical significance, elements of the property are believed to include earlier stone structures associated with the De Lacy Norman Castle that once guarded the strategic river crossing.

“Throughout the sales process, Shannon View generated strong interest from a broad range of prospective purchasers, including those seeking a prestigious family residence, tourism and hospitality operators, and investors recognising the long-term potential of this exceptional riverside holding,” said Mr Carthy.

“Shannon View was one of the most unique properties we have had the privilege of bringing to the market. Its rich history, spectacular views over the Shannon and marina, and significant development potential made it a standout offering. We are delighted to have successfully concluded the sale and wish the new owners every success as they begin the next chapter in the property’s remarkable story,” said the auctioneer.

REA Seamus Carthy extends sincere thanks to all parties involved in the transaction and looks forward to seeing Shannon View continue its legacy as one of the region’s most iconic landmark properties.
