Liam was a student at CBS Roscommon.

CBS Roscommon has remembered student Liam Dunne, who passed away suddenly yesterday, Tuesday, as a “vibrant presence who brought warmth and joy to our school community”.

In a social media message, the Roscommon Town school said it was deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Liam, “a cherished member of our Class of 2025”.

The school said: “In this time of profound grief, we come together to remember a young man who touched so many lives during his time with us.

“Liam was more than just a student in our corridors – he was a vibrant presence who brought warmth and joy to our school community. Whether it was his infectious smile in the hallways, his contributions in the classroom, or the way he connected with both peers and teachers, Liam had a unique ability to make those around him feel valued and appreciated.

“Those who knew Liam will remember his kindness and the genuine care he showed for others. He embodied the values that CBS Roscommon strives to instill in all our students, demonstrating respect, compassion, and a zest for life that was truly inspiring.

“As we mourn this tremendous loss, we also celebrate the positive impact Liam had on our school community. His memory will live on in the hearts of his classmates, teachers, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. The bonds of friendship he forged and the moments of joy he shared with us are treasures that time cannot diminish.

“During this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with Liam's family - his parents Róisín and Gary, his much-loved twin brother and class mate Rory, and his loving sister Clara - as well as all his friends and loved ones. We stand together as a school community, offering our support and sharing in the grief of losing someone so special, so young, and with so much promise ahead of him.

“Liam's legacy reminds us to cherish each day, to be kind to one another, and to appreciate the precious gift of community that we share here at CBS Roscommon. Though he is no longer with us in person, his spirit and the memories he created will continue to be a source of comfort and inspiration.

“May Liam rest in eternal peace, and may his family find strength in the knowledge that he was deeply loved and will be forever remembered by the CBS Roscommon community. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis," said the school.

St. Faithleach’s GAA club also extended its condolences to Gary Dunne (former player), his wife Roisin, their children Rory and Clara , grandmother Noreen and all their family and friends on the untimely death of Liam.
