School seeks permission for 4G full size GAA pitch

A school in the county has applied for planning permission for a new playing pitch.
The board of management at the county’s newest secondary school, Coláiste Chiaráin in Summerhill, Athlone, South Roscommon, applied for permission from the council for the development on Thursday February 22nd.
The development will consist of a 4G full size GAA pitch with a 1.4m high metal fence surrounding it and two 13m-high ball stops.
The proposal is also seeking to erect six 21.34m high poles to provide flood lighting, as well as a 2m wide walkway around the boundaries of the pitch.
A decision is expected on the development by April 17th.
