A young woman whose tragic death occurred at the weekend has been described as “a gentle and sweet soul”.

A native of Attyrory, Carrick-on-Shannon Róisín Cryan,  who was living and working in Ballina, has been remembered as ‘a beautiful person, inside and out,’ as a ‘friendly and humble’ person and a ‘beautiful soul’.

Róisín, late of Ard Na Sí, Attyrory, Carrick-on-Shannon, will be sadly missed by her heartbroken family.

She is survived by her parents Joe and Marguerite; loving fiancé, well known Mayo footballer Conor Loftus; adored sisters, Annmarie, Clare, Ruth and Maeve, Clare’s fiancé Eugene; the Loftus family, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, neighbours, work colleagues and a large circle of friends.

She was pre-deceased by grandparents William and Mai Cryan, Bernard and Annie Donohue, her cousin Michael, aunt Mary and uncle Hughie.

Róisín will repose at The Heritage Centre, Chapel of Rest, Church Lane, Carrick-on-Shannon (N41 KP62) on Monday, January 13th from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m.. Removal to St. Mary’s Church, Carrick-on-Shannon on Tuesday evening arriving at 6 p.m.. Mass of Christian burial on Wednesday at 11 o’clock followed by burial in Drumlion Cemetery.

The Cryan and Loftus family say they appreciate everybody’s sympathy, support and understanding at this difficult time and have requested, if desired, that donations in lieu of flowers would be made to Grainne Uaille Sub Aqua Club and River Moy Search and Rescue.
