Woman told to come up with compensation

A 20-year-old woman was told to return to Castlerea District Court with proposals for compensation.

Savannah Burns, with an address at 28 Beech Grove, Roscommon, appeared before Judge James Faughnan. He was told that the accused admitted slapping another woman in Castlerea on March 14th, 2025.

The accused was legally represented by barrister Pat O’Sullivan.

Commenting that the victim impact statement was quite strong, the judge said he wanted to see what Ms Burns’ attitude to compensation was and put the matter back until May 15th for proposals.

“If she wants to remain conviction free, she’ll have to pay up,” he said.
