UFO mystery in Roscommon to feature in new RTÉ programme

Boyle has developed a reputation as one of Ireland's most intriguing UFO hotspots.

RTÉ has unveiled details of its upcoming season, with the mystery of unexplained lights in the skies over Boyle set to be explored in a new documentary.

The programme follows astronomer Dr Eamonn Ansbro as he investigates reports of strange aerial phenomena that have earned Boyle a reputation as one of Ireland's most intriguing UFO hotspots.

Dr Ansbro, who has spent much of his life examining alleged UFO sightings, delves into decades of accounts from local residents who claim to have witnessed mysterious lights and unexplained objects in the sky above the north Roscommon town.

As part of the documentary, he develops his own theory about how UFOs operate and attempts to put it to the test through a unique public experiment on the shores of Lough Key.

Inviting residents and visitors to take part, Dr Ansbro seeks to predict when and where UFOs will appear, hoping to gather evidence to support his research.

Alongside his investigation, the programme features first-hand accounts from locals whose encounters with unexplained phenomena have become part of the town's identity and folklore. Residents recount stories of mysterious lights, unusual movements in the night sky and experiences that have remained with them for years.

The broadcast details for the programme have yet to be announced.
