A young, unaccompanied learner driver was stopped by Gardai in County Roscommon earlier today, Tuesday, driving at 115kp/h in a 50kp/h zone.
Gardaí detected the driver while they were checking speed in the Ballaghaderreen area.
“The young, unaccompanied learner had no L-plates displayed and was driving at 115kp/h in a 50kp/h zone,” said Gardai.
“We seized the vehicle, fined him €440 and three penalty points will be added to his permit.
"The car can only be released to a full-licence driver and when the €125 reclaim fee is paid - it's an additional €35 for each day it's unclaimed. A hefty price to pay for a spin,” said Gardai.
