The barrier at a level crossing in County Roscommon was struck by a vehicle earlier this morning, Irish Rail has confirmed.
The barrier on the level crossing at Ballymurray on the N61 main Roscommon to Athlone Road was struck by a vehicle causing damage to the crossing.
An Irish Rail spokesperson told the Roscommon Herald that operators are on site manually taking the trains through the crossing while repairs are awaited.
The spokesperson added that the 07.15 Westport/Heuston service was delayed by 50 minutes as a result of the incident, but the remainder of the services on the line are now experiencing "minimal delays."
The barriers have not yet been repaired but operators are on site.
