Dramatic footage of the raging forest fire in West Roscommon has emerged this evening.
The fire, which began earlier today, has already devastated large tracts of forestry and led to the precautionary evacuation of a number of homes and livestock.
All roads leading into the Gorthaganny area were earlier closed by gardaí.
Fire service personnel from a number of different units in counties Roscommon and Mayo have been tackling the blaze, which is being fanned by strong winds.
The dramatic footage below captured by Sean Ganley shows how a section of the raging fire has come very close to the roadside.
