Watch: Mayor of Northampton visits ancestral County Roscommon home

The Cathaoirleach of Roscommon County Council, Domnick Connolly and the Mayor of Northampton, Mike Hallam crossed paths at Castlecoote Lodge earlier this week as Cllr Hallam undertakes a charity cycle from Bellmullet to Northampton.
The cycle is in aid of the McCarthy-Dixon Foundation, a charity initially set up during Covid-19 to help the Irish community in the UK’s largest town.
It is the second year the cycle has been held, with the cyclists passing through Ballaghaderreen, where the Deane family, whose roofing company sponsors the event, met family and friends, and through Councillor Hallam’s ancestral home village of Castlecoote.
Cllr Hallam met some relations, members of the Rowan family, who are related through his grandmother Elizabeth.
Former TD and Senator Terry Leyden and his wife Mary were on hand to provide the cyclists with refreshments as they concluded the first leg of the journey.
The group of 20 cyclists made it to Dublin yesterday and will cycle across Wales today, Thursday.
