County Roscommon athletes have been wished all the best at the Special Ireland Olympics Summer Games, which get underway on June 18th (today).
Aidan, Josh, Laura, Conor, Dara, Frankie, Anthony, Danny and Aoife are part of Team Connacht that will compete at the games — Ireland’s largest inclusive sporting event — between June 18th and June 21st across 12 sports in multiple venues across Dublin, Meath, and Kildare.
Roscommon Special Olympics Club congratulated the athletes, adding that “no doubt all their hard work will be rewarded.”
There have been many messages of support for the athletes, including one from Roscommon senior football manager, Mark Dowd, who highlighted the importance of “having fun” at the Games.
He also thanked the volunteers for nurturing the talents of the nine athletes who had qualified for the first Ireland Games since Covid.
