WATCH: Roscommon GAA Wall of Fame unveiled

A large crowd gathered on Saturday afternoon to witness the unveiling of a unique Wall of Fame celebrating Roscommon’s All-Ireland-winning teams at the Fairymount Memorial Garden.
A sign dedicated to the success of Roscommon’s GAA and Lgfa teams in 2026 was also unveiled, and all the trophies were displayed in the garden for visitors to see.
The display features individual plaques with photographs and details of every Roscommon team to have won an All-Ireland title in Gaelic football, hurling, camogie and handball, including the Mary Quinn Cup won by the Roscommon Intermediate ladies team.
There is a separate tribute section to All-Ireland winners in other sports, such as the boxing sisters, Aoife and Lisa O’Rourke. A special memorial section also honours young club and county players who passed away during their playing career.
Michael Gilligan who now lives in Roscommon Town, has spent many years developing his memorial garden, which has become a popular contemplative space for its many visitors. The garden is a little oasis of calm and peace where members of the parish are remembered, historical and public figures are honoured and unsung heroes, including frontline healthcare workers, are also celebrated.
