Dozens of Roscommon supporters staying in New York this weekend for the big match later this evening witnessed a major fire drama unfolding earlier this morning.

Roscommon Herald Sports Editor Ian Cooney says that the fire broke out in an empty building on the corner of 7th and 23rd street. The Chelsea Savoy, beside Jake's Saloon, is the base for many Roscommon fans.

Dozens of fire fighters, police and paramedics are on the scene. The Chelsea Savoy was not evacuated and all Roscommon fans are safe and well.
