The 2026 Roscommon Ploughing Championships proved a major success.

Top class ploughing was on show at the 2026 Roscommon Ploughing Championships which took place on Sunday at the Hanley family farm at Lissaneaville, Fuerty.

Heavy rain in the morning cleared in the early afternoon to ensure that big crowds could enjoy another memorable occasion, bringing together farming tradition, community spirit and family-friendly entertainment.

Competitors and supporters travelled from all corners of Roscommon, neighbouring counties and many other places, including Down, Monaghan, Wicklow, Kilkenny and North Tipperary.

The ploughing committee extended a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended the event and to those who took part in the championships.

“Your support, commitment, and enthusiasm made the day such a special occasion.

“It was a privilege to watch the incredible skill, dedication, and pride shown in the art of ploughing throughout the championships. The standard on display was truly outstanding and a credit to everyone involved.

“Congratulations to all who participated today, and especially to all our prize winners. Every competitor should be proud of their efforts and contribution to a fantastic event,” said the committee.
