Welcome news for local communities as boil water notices lifted

Uisce Éireann has lifted boil water notices for families, businesses and all customers in Dunmore, Glenamaddy and surrounding areas

Families, businesses and all customers in Dunmore, Glenamaddy and surrounding areas can once again enjoy safe drinking water straight from the tap following the lifting of the Boil Water Notices, which were in place on the supplies.

The team in Uisce Éireann, following consultation with the Health Service Executive (HSE), can confirm that the water is now safe to drink, prepare food with, and use as normal.

The notices have been lifted following the completion of works and a series of satisfactory water quality tests. The notices were issued on Thursday, September 17th, due to operational issues at the Gortgarrow Water Treatment Plant.

Uisce Éireann understands the disruption and inconvenience the notices have caused for customers and would like to thank everyone in the community for their patience, co-operation and support while the necessary work was carried out.

“This is welcome news for the community. We understand how disruptive a Boil Water Notice can be and I'd like to thank customers for the patience, cooperation and kindness they showed to our teams while these notices were in place.

“Our drinking water experts have worked hard to resolve the issue, and we are delighted that customers can now return to using their water supply as normal," said Ger Greally, Water Treatment Operations Manager with Uisce Éireann.

The Uisce Éireann Customer Contact Centre, available 24/7 on freephone 1800 278 278, can answer queries regarding the lifting of these notices. Further information is available on www.water.ie.
