Newsround in Roscommon Town has closed its doors permanently.
A well-known County Roscommon newsagents has confirmed that it is to close permanently.
Newsround — located just off The Square in Roscommon Town — is shutting its doors after 40 years in business.
In a notice to customers, Noel and Patricia, Christy, Barry and Oisín O’Connor, and their “wonderful staff” admitted that when the business opened 40 years ago, it has no idea what journey lay ahead.
“The people of Roscommon didn’t become just customers, you became friends, neighbours and an essential part of our daily lives.
“From celebrating your milestones to sharing a quick chat on busy afternoons, every moment here has been a true privilege.”
The owners said that deciding to close the doors “was not an easy choice”, but the time had come to say goodbye, leaving them with “a lifetime supply of good memories”.
“Thank you for letting us be part of your lives and for supporting our small business through the years. We will carry the memories, the kindness and the community feeling with us always,” the notice concluded.
