The Central Statistics Office (CSO) has released the most popular time of year to get married, and some might surprise you!
Sunny August comes in at first place with an average of 2,733 weddings taking place.
On average, the top five most popular months to get married were August, July (2,446), September (2,333), June (2,073), and October (1,855).
In recent years a Christmas time wedding has grown popular. December came in second, with an average of 1,811 couples saying I do during this month.
January was the least popular month.
When it comes to the big day New Year’s Eve was the most popular date chosen, with on average 189 weddings occurring on this day.
Many couples also chose the second last day of the year to wed, with the 30th trailing closely behind at 151 marriages on average.
The data reveals new trends in weddings. While the Christmas to new year's period is growing popular, so are dates around the August Bank Holiday weekend.
The only date when no marriages were recorded was the 25 December, Christmas day.
The CSO looked at a 14-year period from 2011-2024.
The CSO data from 2024 shows the average age of brides stood at 35.9 years and 37.7 years for grooms.
Friday was the most popular day to get married, and Tuesday was the least popular.
