Williamstown to feature in RTE's Nationwide
The RTE Nationwide cameras were in Williamstown last week.
Williamstown Tidy Towns group and Williamstown Heritage Society will feature on the iconic television programme this evening at 7 pm.
June 30th was a very special day for the East Galway community when the RTÉ Nationwide crew paid a visit.
In addition to taking in a broad overview of the community and its numerous voluntary organisations, the TV crew focused in particular on the Templetogher Heritage Area, and the recently published biography of Michael McGovern by the late renowned broadcaster, Jim Fahy.
There was also involvement by the children from Williamstown NS.
The Nationwide team also visited County Leitrim, the native county of one of Ireland's most famous writers, John McGahern.
In Ballinamore, where McGahern spent both his early and later years, a community group has unveiled plans to transform the town’s disused courthouse into a heritage and visitor information centre.
