Wind farm planning permission appealed

An appeal has been lodged against planning permission for a controversial wind farm in the county.
The appeals were lodged with An Coimisiún Pleanála on September 2nd and a decision date on the case is not yet known.
In August, Roscommon County Council granted planning permission with 55 conditions for a wind farm in the Ballyfeeney area, with the local action group saying it would appeal the decision vigorously.
Ballyfeeny Green Energy Limited sought planning permission last September to construct and operate a wind farm consisting of six wind turbines. The location of the development takes in a number of areas, Tully, Ballyfeeney, Pollymount, Bellanamullia, Scramogue, Treanaceeve, Ballyhubert, and Tooreen.
In December, the council requested further information on the development, with this being provided by the developers in June.
A large number of submissions had been made to the council opposing the wind farm, including from members of the Ballyfeeney Action Group.
