Work begins on expansion to Castlerea swimming pool 

Work on the new expansion of Castlerea Swimming Pool began today. It is expected that the work will be completed by the end of May.

The council has provided €200,000 to carry out improvement works on the toddler pool and splash area at Castlerea Pool.

This morning, Cathaoirleach of Roscommon County Council, Paschal Fitzmaurice said he was delighted to announce that work will begin today.

“I want to thank Roscommon County Council and my fellow councillors for backing the funding for this exciting project,” he said. “The new pool will be heated along with the water in the splash area. I have been working on this project for a long time and it's great to see it started. This is a great day for West Roscommon and I am looking forward to seeing it finished in late May.” 

A budget of €118,000 was allocated for the maintenance and operation of the pool in 2025 and to operate the pool for the 12-week summer season. This is an increase of €38,000 on the previous budget.
