Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow rain warning, which will last 30 hours, for County Roscommon this weekend.

The warning comes into effect at 6 p.m. on Saturday evening (December 13th) and last until Sunday midnight.

The national weather forecaster is warning of spells of heavy rain across Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Donegal and the five Connacht counties.

Consequently, the risk of flooding has been increased due to higher river levels and saturated ground.

Likely impacts include river and surface water flooding, difficult travelling conditions and poor visibility.

December has been an extremely wet month across the country, but there are signs that the weather might settle down closer to Christmas.
