Castlerea sisters, Aoife and Lisa O’Rourke, have won gold medals for Ireland at the World Hyrox Championships.

The famous boxing sisters struck gold in the doubles event in Chicago on Sunday.

On Friday, Lisa won a bronze medal in her individual event.

Hyrox is an indoor fitness competition that combines eight kilometres of running and eight functional workout stations, alternating between running and functional exercises.

Aoife and Lisa will now turn their attention to making the Irish team for World Boxing’s inaugural Elite World Championships in Liverpool between September 4th and 14th, having won silver medals at the IBA World Championship in Serbia last March.
