St. Brigid’s attempts to become the first Roscommon side to claim the Connacht LGFA senior title since 1995 came unstuck as they lost out 3-21 to 0-9 against a ruthless Kilkerrin/Clonberne outfit.

The Galway side became just the second club after Carnacon to claim eight Connacht senior LGFA titles in a row as their bid to secure a fifth All Ireland on the trot continues.

Kilkerrin/Clonberne were utterly ruthless in the first half, scoring 2-11 from 13 shots at the posts. They raced 1-5 to 0-1 in front after 12 minutes as Eva Noone bagged 1-2 during that period, her goal coming just seconds after Chloe Costello won a turnover on her own ’45.

Kate Nolan’s accurate free taking helped minimise the damage but Kilkerrin/Clonberne struck for goal number two after 21 minutes.

Eva Noone’s point effort smacked off the outside of the post before she gathered the rebound and handpassed across goal for her sister Lynsey to palm to the net.

Even though Ciara Walsh and Marian Nolan kicked fine scores before the break, Kilkerrin/Clonberne still led 2-11 to 0-7 at half time.

Willie Ward’s side continued where they left off as although Chloe Miskell saw a penalty fly over the bar, they bagged their third goal when Lynsey Noone found the net.

Eva Noone continued to run amok as the Player of the Match finished with 1-8 as St. Brigid’s fine year came to an end.
