Roscommon senior football manager Davy Burke has added a new coach to his management ticket.

Former Down footballer and current Slaughtneil manager, Mark Doran, will join Burke’s backroom for the 2025 season.

Doran has intercounty experience as a coach in Clare, where he worked alongside Colm Collins, Wicklow and his native Down.

He led Ballybay to the Monaghan senior football championship title in 2022 and had reportedly been one of the leading candidates to replace Mickey Harte in Derry in recent weeks.

Doran will join Eddie Lohan, Leo Tierney and Hugh Lynch on the Roscommon management ticket for 2025.

It is understood that Lar Wall, who was part of the management in 2024 and was subsequently linked with the Meath and Westmeath jobs, won't be involved.

Slaughtneil were defeated by reigninng All-Ireland club championa, Glen, in the Derry senior football semi-final last weekend, freeing up Doran to join the Rossies.

Doran is very highly regarded in coaching circles around the country, and his arrival as Roscommon coach will be viewed as something of a coup for Davy Burke who was looking to freshen up his management team for next season.
