Coláiste Mhuire, Ballygar, beaten in All-Ireland schools‘ hurling final

Coláiste Mhuire, Ballygar, have been beaten in their Masita All-Ireland schools’ C hurling final this afternoon.
The East Galway school, which featured a number of players from County Roscommon, suffered a 0-16 to 1-8 defeat against Scoil Pól Kilfinane at Dr. Daly Memorial Park, Tulla.
Harry O’Sullivan gave Scoil Mhuire, Ballygar, a dream start with an early goal but a better balanced Limerick outfit soon established a foothold and led by 0-8 to 1-2 at half time.
At the beginning of the third quarter, Scoil Pól stretched their lead further before Scoil Mhuire staged a gallant comeback. But the winners regained the initiative to run out five-point winners.
The team were captained by Conor Kelly from Four Roads. He was joined by Adam Kenny, Ethan Kelly, Rory Coyle, Jamie Kelly, Gavin Meares, Oisín Finneran, David Mannion, Seán Scott and Michael Dunning from the Tisrara-based club.
Athleague duo Adam Beckett and Matthew Beirne were also part of the squad.
Ballyforan native Johnny Waldron was the team’s joint manager alongside Galway intercounty hurler Evan Niland.
