It was an Easter to remember for two well-known County Roscommon footballers as they were rewarded for stellar seasons with DCU.

Cousins Eoin Ward and Aisling Hanly received their Sigerson Cup and O’Connor Cup medals respectively at a gala presentation banquet on Easter Monday.

Ward, who plays his club football with Fuerty, was part of the Dublin university’s senior football panel that claimed Sigerson Cup glory, coming on in the final during the 1-16 to 3-6 victory against UCD in Bekan.

Luke Glennon (Boyle), Jack Tumulty (Pádraig Pearses) and Tomás Crean (Creggs) were also part of the successful DCU panel.

Meanwhile, Kilbride and Roscommon ladies’ footballer Aisling Hanly played a pivotal role for the DCU ladies’ football team that beat UCC by 2-11 to 1-9 in the O’Connor Cup final.
