Cathal McCormack from Tulsk Lord Edwards was recently selected as runner-up of EirGrid’s Connacht round of their GAA Community Heroes Campaign.
This is the second year EirGrid has run the competition, that recognises the role GAA volunteers play in enriching and sustaining communities around the country.
Mr McCormack was presented with a cheque worth €1,500 for Tulsk Lord Edwards by Aidan Naughton, EirGrid Liaison Office.
Over the course of a month EirGrid received nearly 80 nomination across the four provinces, with the winners from each province going forward to a national final.
Sinead Dooley, EirGrid’s Head of Public Engagement congratulated Mr McCormack and overall winner Marie Turkington of Annaghdown Camogie Club, Co. Galway:
“EirGrid was delighted to receive such a large number of truly deserving entries, all demonstrating the exceptional amount of time and energy that volunteers in the GAA give to help their clubs and communities flourish.â¯
“Our congratulations to Marie and Cathal. Their commitment is inspiring and EirGrid is proud to be able to recognise and award such dedication. Like the GAA, EirGrid is dedicated to empowering and supporting communities to thrive across the country.”
