Michael Glaveys and Roscommon forward Darragh Heneghan’s memorable championship season so far has been rewarded with the PwC GAA/GPA Footballer of the Month for May.
Heneghan lit up the Connacht championship with four goals, and added another during the recent All-Ireland SFC contest against Tyrone, bringing his championship scoring tally to 5-6 in his debut season.
Dublin hurler Brian Hayes received the hurling award, while Kerry’s Mary Ellen Bolger and Clare’s Róisín Begley were the ladies’ football and camogie winners respectively.
The May awards celebrated the country’s top performers across the provincial championships and the opening rounds of the 2026 All-Ireland championships.
“After a blistering start to the championship summer, these PwC Player of the Month awards salute players who have put down a marker through their exceptional performances.
"Their skills have contributed to the excitement of a championship campaign that is building towards a dramatic and exciting finish. Congratulations to Darragh, Brian, Mary Ellen and Róisín and our thanks to PwC for their continuing support,” said GAA President, Jarlath Burns.

Enda McDonagh, Managing Partner, PwC Ireland, noted that May delivered a host of outstanding performances across all four codes, as captivating provincial campaigns reached their conclusion, and the All-Ireland Championship Series gathered momentum.
GPA CEO Tom Parsons described May as a month of many outstanding performances, adding that there were so many players in the running to become the PWC Players of the Month.
“It is a testament to the excellence of the four winners that their fellow players have chosen them to be recognised. Congratulations to Róisín, Mary Ellen, Brian and Darragh and good luck for the remainder of the championship. Thank you, as always, to PwC and the GAA for your continued partnership in these awards,” he said.
