Draws for Intermediate and Junior A Football Championship quarter-finals throw up some intriguing ties

The meeting of St. Dominic’s and Fuerty is the standout tie of the McNulty’s Furniture Intermediate Football Championship Quarter-Final draw, which took place in Ballyforan on Friday evening.
Fuerty’s reward for beating St. Brigid’s, 0-15 to 0-9, in their preliminary quarter-final, thanks to a late scoring burst, was a meeting against one of the pre-championship favourites.
St. Dominic’s topped their group, but will be wary of a Fuerty side that dumped an in-form Tulsk side out of the championship at the same stage last season.
The winners of that game will meet the victors from Creggs’ quarter-final clash against Tulsk.
Last year's beaten finalists, Éire Óg, were the big winners on the other side of the draw. They have been drawn against Shannon Gaels in the last eight, with the winners of Kilmore and St. Michael’s — a repeat of last year’s quarter-final — awaiting in the last four.
In the King and Moffatt Junior A Football Championship quarter-finals, Boyle’s reward for beating St. Ronan’s, 1-9 to 0-7, on Friday evening is a quarter-final against Kilglass Gaels.
Kelvin Gaffney and Gavin O’Connor combined for 0-7 between them, while substitute Mark O’Donohoe grabbed his side’s all-important goal in injury time.
The winner of that game will play either Kilbride or Ballinameen in the last four, in what is the pick of the quarter-final games.
On the other side of the draw, St. Aidan’s have been drawn against St. Brigid’s C, with the winner of that game facing either Clann na nGael or Western Gaels B in the last four.
All eight quarter-finals, alongside the four senior quarter-finals, are scheduled to take place next weekend.
