Mark Dowd’s first competitive game as Roscommon senior football manager will be against Leitrim in early January.
On Thursday afternoon, Connacht GAA released the fixtures for the return of the 2026 Connacht Senior Football League, which will be sponsored by FBD Insurance for the 30th year.
In the opening round on January 3rd/4th, Roscommon will play Leitrim, Galway will play London and Sligo will meet Mayo.
The second round on January 9th and 10th will see Dowd come up against Andy Moran, a player he coached while in charge of Ballaghaderreen in 2012, as Mayo take on Roscommon.
A finals weekend has been arranged for the weekend of January 17th/18th where the top two teams will contest the FBD Cup final. The third and fourth placed teams will play in the Shield final, while the fifth and sixth place teams will contest the Plate decider.
The competition was last held in January 2023 when Roscommon defeated Galway in the final.
Venues for the games have yet to be confirmed, but the Connacht GAA Air Dome will not be used as it is under reconstruction after being destroyed by Storm Eowyn earlier this year.
