Former Ballinameen footballer Gerard McDermottroe will have a keen eye on this afternoon’s King and Moffatt Junior A final, just over 24 hours before he will lineout with Castleknock in the Dublin SFC final.
McDermottroe has had an impressive season with his current club, whom he leads in scoring with 1-16 as they chase a first senior crown, against Con O’Callaghan’s Cuala.
His former club wished him the best of luck on social media, as Ballinameen’s shot at county title glory against St. Aidan’s throws-in at 3 p.m. today at King and Moffatt Dr Hyde Park.
Interestingly Dessie Carlos, who remains a key player for Ballinameen and is named to start today, led Castleknock to their first Dublin SFC final in 2016 kicking 0-9 in that year’s semi-final.
Former Ballaghaderreen FC and Ballaghaderreen GAA player Shairoze Akram is also expected to feature for the Dublin club chasing a first senior crown, in his first season since transferring clubs.
