Former Roscommon footballer calls time as part of successful Wicklow management

Former Roscommon forward, Frankie Dolan, has confirmed that he won’t be part of the Wicklow senior football management team in 2027.
Dolan, who was part of Oisín McConville’s management team that guided the Garden County, to a famous Tailteann Cup triumph earlier in July, said that he had made “memories and friends for a lifetime”.
“Unfortunately, the landscape has changed and management teams change, so it won't be a third year on the road for me helping the team on the journey they are on.
“I'm hoping it’s the start of something very special as the talent is there. They are a very special group and a unique bond has been created.
“To be the first county to compete in the Sam Maguire competition after winning the Tailteann Cup from Division Four, I was really looking forward to competing in it with ye, but I know ye will do yourselves proud and represent Wicklow GAA with immense pride and passion and give the incredible supporters more great days out,” he said.
Dolan went on to thank his wife Caroline, and sons Ryen and Jack for their “incredible support and understanding”.
Dolan is the current manager of the Abbeylara senior footballers in County Longford, where is preparing the team for the semi-finals of this year’s championship.
