Former Roscommon senior footballer, Andrew Glennon, has helped Garrymore reach the club's first Mayo senior football final in 44 years.

Glennon, who transferred from Michael Glaveys last season, has been a regular in Garrymore's line-up, which saw them beat Belmullet in an epic semi-final last weekend to qualify for the club's first senior final since 1982.

Lining out at centre-forward, Glennon hit a two-point free, and was part of a team that contained Mayo All-Ireland winners Enda Hession and Eoin McGreal.

Garrymore won six Mayo titles between 1974 and 1982 but, incredibly, haven't been in a final since despite staying at senior level.

Glennon won a Connacht senior football championship title with Roscommon in 2019, having helped Michael Glaveys capture Roscommon and Connacht club intermediate football championship titles in 2017 before losing out to Tyrone's Moy in the All-Ireland final in Croke Park.

On Sunday week, Garrymore will take on Castlebar Mitchels in a novel Mayo SFC final.
