Frankie Dolan has confirmed that he won’t be taking over as Longford senior football manager.
The former Roscommon forward had been linked with the role, stating that it was his intention to speak to Longford GAA officials following the elimination of Abbeylara — the team he was managing — in the semi-final of the senior football championship.
However, on Wednesday, he clarified on social media that he wouldn’t be replacing Mike Solan.
“Following a week of speculation and numerous messages and calls of support and encouragement, I just wanted to give everyone an update on my position in relation to the Longford senior football manager role.
“After careful consideration, I spoke with the Chairman of Longford County Board earlier this week and have decided that I won’t be going forward for the role.
“I’d like to thank everyone who has been in touch, and also Longford GAA for approaching me about the position. I wish them all the very best going forward,” said Dolan on his Facebook page.
The former St. Brigid’s player had been involved in Oisín McConville’s successful management set-up in Wicklow, which procured Tailteann Cup honours a few months ago, but has since confirmed that he wouldn’t be continuing his role with the Garden County in 2027.
