Four Roscommon men claimed Sigerson Cup winners’ medals as DCU produced a defiant second half display to inflict a second successive final defeat on UCD.
Boyle’s Luke Glennon started at full back and anchored a DCU defence that laid the platform for this victory.
Fuerty’s Eoin Ward came off the bench in the opening quarter and made his presence felt while seeing a 57th minute goal disallowed.
Pádraig Pearses’ Jack Tumulty came off the bench while Tomás Crean (Creggs) was also part of the panel.
On the UCD side, Daire Cregg, whose brother Oisín was also part of the panel, was aiming to become the first Roscommon man to captain a team to Sigerson glory since Tony McManus did so in 1979.
Cregg kicked two frees while St. Brigid’s Ben O’Carroll also started, lining out at full forward. O’Carroll’s clubmate Bobby Nugent was part of the UCD panel.
