It’s a huge day for County Roscommon handballers at the oneills.com World Wallball Championships.
Fiona Tully has two semi-finals to look forward to. Having beaten Claire Conway and Aoife McCarthy — the latter after a tiebreaker — the St. Coman’s handballer meets Eilise McCrory in the Ladies’ Open Singles semi-final at 3.30 p.m..
The race for the title has been thrown wide open following the withdrawal of Cork’s Catriona Casey who was forced off in her quarter-final against Armagh’s Caoliosa Ní Dhúill through injury.
Tully and McCrory will also be on opposite sides of the court for the Ladies’ Open Doubles semi-final later this evening.
Tully will team up with and Ciara Mahon from Kilkenny against McCrory and Megan McCann in a last four clash that is scheduled to commence at 8 p.m..
It’s also a busy day for Siobhán Treacy in both the singles and doubles of the Ladies’ A competition.
Siobhán has already been in action this morning in the Ladies' A Singles semi-final where she was defeated by Caitlin Conway 21-17, 21-15.
Later this afternoon, she will team up with Carragh Kennedy, also from St. Coman’s, for the doubles semi-final at 5.45 p.m..
In the 17 and under doubles competition, Shona Sweeney from St. Coman’s is paired with Ella Sweeney for their semi-final at 6 p.m..
It is also a big day for Kilglass Handball Club with three of the club’s handballers in semi-final action.
Allana Coggeran will team up with Ava Sweeney this morning at 11.30 a.m. for their 19 and under semi-final, while the Men’s C Doubles semi-final will see John and Adam Coggeran enter the court at 6.45 p.m..
