Kerry 1-17

Roscommon 1-11

Allianz Football League Division One

The gulf in class was obvious as Kerry, led by David Clifford, pushed Roscommon closer to the Division One relegation trapdoor in front of 6,464 supporters at Dr. Hyde Park this afternoon.

The Kingdom were always able to keep Davy Burke's men at arm's length, building up a half-time buffer of four points and sealing the win in injury time with Joe O'Connor's goal

Roscommon tried hard but ran out of ideas going forward, although Cathal Heneghan's 54th minute goal left just a goal between the teams.

The Kerry attack, led by the Clifford and Seán O'Shea, found scores much easier to come by, and a six-point gap was an accurate reflection of how the match panned out, although Roscommon shot 12 wides compared to Kerry's four over the 70 minutes.

Roscommon must now travel to Celtic Park next Sunday and beat Derry and hope that Kerry do them a favour by beating Galway in Killarney at the same time in order to save their Division One status.

On the basis of what we've seen throughout this league campaign, it's hard to see Roscommon keeping their side of the bargain.
