One of Kerry’s key defenders will be missing for the Kingdom’s opening Division One League game against Roscommon at Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney, on Sunday, January 25th.

Gavin White — the man who lifted the Sam Maguire Cup in July after a Player of the Match performance in the All-Ireland final against Donegal — has undergone surgery on an injured ankle, according to The Examiner.

White picked up the ankle injury playing with Dr. Crokes in the East Kerry SFC semi-final against Spa in mid-November.

The 2025 Kerry captain enjoyed a stellar season in Jack O’Connor’s half-back line, culminating in a terrific performance against Donegal in July to complete a league and championship double for the Kingdom.
